Neochmia phaeton  

I was peeking out of a hide, at Tyto Wetlands, hoping to see where this beautiful bird took its nesting material.

Unfortunately it was watching me peeking at it and wasn't about to give away the location of its nest.

The quite lengthy Mexican stand-off at least allowed me to take many fairly decent photos.

Then whilst I was very briefly distracted by something it disappeared. Damn, outsmarted by a bird again.
